Why RUSH?

Being a member of a fraternity shines light down paths you may have thought you would never encounter! Joining a fraternity can be the first step to your successful future. Because of the responsibility and leadership to be gained, your characteristics and abilies are enhanced... those which you will possess for a lifetime! The following will give you some added insight and reasons why you should join a fraternity:

  • 76% of the U.S. Representatives are Greek
  • 85% of the U.S. Supreme Court Justices since 1910 have been Greek
  • 71% of all men listed in "Who's Who in America" are Greek
  • All but two Presidents since 1825 have been fraternity men

Our House

Arizona State University's Sigma Nu was founded in 1955. Since then, well over one thousand members have been initiated. Our beautiful house is conveniently located next to Wells Fargo Arena and Sun Devil Stadium, and across the street from the north campus dormitories. The house has accommodations for 63 men and consists of three buildings housing a chapter room, library, cafeteria, recreation room, and kitchen. There are laundry facilities, two large sun decks, a sand volleyball court, and a swimming pool. For more information on our house, including photos click here.

Pledgeship

Sigma Nu has an extremely rewarding pledge program. It is time to grow as an individual, while developing lifelong relationships. With the absence of hazing, Sigma Nu allows you to display the true person that you are.

Sigma Nu is known for having the most quality pledges, displaying leadership, drive, and ambition. You will be able to participate in community service, social events and academic strengthening while, most of all, you will get the opportunity to live the "Total Sigma Nu Experience."

Academics

No matter how academically successful you were in high school, the transition to college academic work is not an easy one. The tendency to procrastinate and underestimate the workload is high. The Sigma Nu pledge program is very strong in providing guidance and tools necessary for pledges to succeed academically.

Sigma Nu places great concern on the academic performance and provides a positive environment that encourages strong study habits. The academic discipline that pledges are exposed to is great support to the new student, and shows how classes are taught at the university and how to do well. As part of a pledge class, each pledge receives the proper amount of peer pressure to make certain that academic responsibilities are met. This is something invaluable that Sigma Nu offers.

Philanthropy

Sigma Nu understand the importance of serving our community, and has been active in doing so since the chapter was founded. Perhaps most important Sigma Nu proves that community service can be fun. Philanthropies are a great way to meet new people, compete in events, and raise some money for a worth cause. This Chapter has raised over $250,000 to support Childhelp USA through philanthropic events.

The largest and most reputable event of the year has been the Sigma Nu Relays. A multi-day fundraiser for Childhelp USA, Relays is famous for its Saturday Pool Party. While Sigma Nu places a heavy emphasis on achieving goals and academics, we feel there must be an even balance of social time.

Athletics

Sigma Nu has achieved an exceptional reputation in intramural athletics. In the past, Sigma Nu has won or placed in the top three Greek intramural sports each year. When we are not competing in intramurals, house volleyball and basketball are always exciting events.

Social

Perhaps one of the most common reasons to join a fraternity is the social aspect, and perhaps the most common reason to join us here at Sigma Nu is for the social aspect!

We have themed parties with sororities with themes ranging from mud wrestling to Jamaican. We also have formals and homecoming date parties. Homecoming provides a unique opportunity for Sigma Nu Alumni from the Zeta Upsilon Chapter as well as other chapters to rekindle the spirit they experienced during their collegiate years.

Brotherhood

Brotherhood is not something that can be described in a neat little sentence. Brotherhood is an experience that you only know and understand whne you are a part of it. This is partly due to the extensive planning of events specifically targeting the strengthening of brotherly bonds. We do our best to create the perfect atmosphere in which these bonds may thrive. The friendships grow stronger, reinforcing the fact that brotherhood is for life.

Involvment

Sigma Nu has deep pride in the number of brothers who have been actively involved on campus. Five past Student Body Presidents were Sigma Nu brothers. A partial listing of brother's achievements include:

  • ASU Leadership Scholarship Program
